Mark Bissell completed the Bolton Ironman on Sunday 4th Aug in 12hrs 37mins and came 108th in his age category. (40-44yrs) splits:- swim 2.4 miles in 1:12, bike 112 miles in 6:42, run 26.2 miles in 4:30
Nicetri Standard Duathlon – Grafham Waters, Cambridgeshire, consisting of a 10 k run, 40k bike and 5k run. Mike Woodruff 2:13.45 (2nd in Age group, 26th overall)
Four club members took part in the British Triathlon Championships in Liverpool. The course consisted of a 1500m open water swim in Queens and Wapping Docks, followed by a 40k bike taking in all the sights of Liverpool and then a 10k run with multiple laps around the Liverpool Docks area taking in the Echo Arena and the Liver Building…. Well there was certainly a great turn out on Tuesday for the third in this year’s series of the mid-week aquathlons. Last month we saw a record number of people participate and attributed it to the fantastic weather we were experiencing. Pete Winfield took part in the ITU Duathlon world champs qualifier at Rutland Water. He finished 317 overall and 15 in his age category in a time of 2:29:23. His splits were: run 20:16; t1 1:22; bike 1:14:12; t2 1:23; run 52:08.
Phil Gibsone competed in the Harwich Sprint Tri on Saturday 15th June. The weather was unpredictable and during the race He encountered Hail, electrical storms, sheet rain with 26mph winds and burning sunshine on the run. Matt Eeles competed in the Anglian Olympic Triathlon on 7th July and it was a really good event. His times were as follows: Swim 29.42; T1 1.34; Cycle 1.09; T2 1.29; Run 41.14; total time 2hr23 He was 26th overall.
1.9K swim, 92K bike, 22K run based in Milton Keynes Very foggy for swim, couldn’t see the buoys – it was atmospheric and brilliant. Keith Duncan completed his first half ironman distance in a time of 5:33:57, with splits of:41.29, T1 – 2.24, 3:03.54, T2 – 1.56, 1:44.13, in a position of 125 out of 264 competitors.
Marlow Half Ironman – 1.9km swim/86km Bike/20km Run Julie Galmiche in her first half ironman used as a training event for Henley on Thames ironman. Her times were :swim 50.31, T1 04.18 (improved by 2min! still room for improvement obviously), cycle 03:08.24, T2 02.20, Run 1:43.32 Julie’s total time was 5:49:06
