With temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius, thirty seven athletes (including two relay teams) completed the third race in our midweek aquathlon series.   Water temperature was a fraction lower than last month’s race, and critically below the BTF threshold of 22 deg which forbids the use of wetsuits to prevent overheating.    As a result of being able to use wetsuits, many noted quicker swim times.

Stortford Tri’s duo of Mark Spiller and Emma Deary once more lead the men’s and women’s fields home in times of 31:27 and 33:00 respectively, with Emma finishing second overall.   First female vet was newcomer Elizabeth Bellinger of Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club in 35:28; while Kevin Partridge returned to winning form, finishing first male vet in 34:13.

The next, and final, race of the 2016 series takes place on Tues 13th Sept.   Note that the start time is earlier, at 6:30pm, due to earlier sunset.   Hope to see you there.
