Tuesday 2nd Sept saw the Stortford Tri Mid-week Aquathlon Series draw to a close for 2014 with the final race at Redricks Lakes.   On an evening that could easily have been mistaken for the middle of summer, 33 athletes took to the water for the fifth and final race of the series.  Recent clearance of the river path on the far side allowed the full loop run course to be used for only the second time this year (race 2 in June being the first).  Run and overall times are longer, reflecting the slightly longer, harder route.

George Cook (TriSport Epping) once again led the field home, taking is fourth win from four races completed, in 31:14.  Reece Barclay (Hoddeson Tri) followed him home 24sec later for 2nd place overall and in the male senior category.  Third place overall went to Kevin Partridge (TriSport Epping) in 32:55, also taking first male veteran.

The women were topped by Lucy Charles (Hoddeson Tri) in 33:38, with Hayley Hawes (East Essex Tri) taking 2nd overall.  Third spot went to Aurora Kellam-Pearson of Stortford Tri.   The female veteran category was led home by Debbie Thompson (Stortford Tri) in 45:42, followed by Shona Clark (Transition Tri).

Congratulations to all prize winners and all the finishers.  Hope you enjoyed the series and will be back again next year.
